The Foundation Joy of Life for Elderly
The foundation Joy of Life for Elderly was formally established 15 September 2006 and is based in Kristiansand, Norway. The foundation is voluntary and national, party politics and religious neutral. The main office works as a umbrella organization for all the local unions. Together they work for better conditions for elderly care assisted by voluntary companions who may be a student nurse, students in high school, next of kin and any other person with an interest in caring. The foundation is a supplement to the public offer in elderly care in Norway.
Joy of Life for elderly first became a reality in May 2005 from the idea of two student nurses in Kristiansand. To-day the spend most of their time travelling around the country, inspiring others, making lectures and trying to spread the concept nationwide. They have really succeeded. The foundation has now 4 fully employed in addition to 24 local unions nationwide and many more are expected.
The aim of the foundation is to give elderly in need of nursing more joy in their everyday life They focus on quality of life and joy of life, which in the long run will contribute to less illness and better health. Wishing that elderly people will experience the daily life according to their own expectations, they believe more in possibilities than in limitations. Introducing their motto “Live your life – to the end of life”, Joy of Life for Elderly recognizes elderly people as one of the most important recourses in society and will treat every one of them with respect.
The have their own web page, unfortunately only in Norwegian: www.livsgledeforeldre.no.
