Innovative housing
Short description of the pilot
In 2006 the Region of Twente, together with the housing associations in Twente, carried out an investigation at the housing market. The investigation made clear Demographic Change is coming and that it will have an impact on the housing market in Twente. Part of the solution is for example the demolition of houses of lesser quality. The growing number of elderly also imposes new challenges for the housing market. The elderly of the future seem to have different wishes, for example: they want to live in their own house as long as possible. Acting upon demographic change poses new challenges on housing policy. New housing and (health)care concepts will have to be developed using the latest and possible future technological developments like ambient technology and in house systems, the decision process will have to be reorganized and the implementation will ask for new partnerships. The pilot will help to meet these challenges. The municipalities, housing associations, estate agents and other stakeholders have to work together to develop new solutions to cope with the decline of the population and increase of the percentage of elderly people. In the pilot the partners will develop new concepts in all fields: housing concepts, decision process and cooperation, implementation.
