Short description of the pilot

The demographic change is a big challenge for the Bremen region. To deal effectively with the consequences of demographic change it is essential to perceive the risks and chances.

Bremen region - as most regions - disposes of no common and coordinated statistical basis and prediction of the future. Therefore it's new and innovative to have such a tool.

It is a helpful tool for international exchange and cooperation, it is based on a geographic information system (GIS), it will be available in the web. The results will be embedded in a dialog of (regional) stakeholders and lay the grounds for a regional master plan which is an important tool to develop and implement a strategy to face the challenges related with the demographic change.

Main aim

The main aim is to develop an Regional Demographic Monitoring (RDM) tool for regional planners, policy makers, Enterpriser, citizen and NGOs to make effective use of data for planning and political decision making. It will be a base for the regional masterplan as a tool for a common regional strategy/procedure.
