Translating prognoses into concrete consequences

Theme

Raising awareness, developing strategies, monitoring and promoting communication.

Short description of the pilot

We will visit the local authorities and inform them of the population projections and explain to them the monitoring method that has been developed by the university. We will work together and consult each other to develop policy plans and /or concrete actions based on the supplied data and the monitoring strategy. By continuing a dialogue, we would like to achieve the successful translation of scientific data into action and attain a high-level working knowledge.

Main aim

The principal goal is to accomplish concrete changes in policy making or policy actions.
The practice teaches us that at various stages of the planning processes “the translation” of the collected data is difficult. One can collect data and interpret them, but to translate these into concrete consequences is a very complex matter. Of course this will be part of the long term policy.

Expected results

A guide that enables the local governing boards to translate the data into concrete policy actions (actions directly based on data).
Four local/regional authorities will integrate the concrete consequences in their policy plan.
These authorities will serve as ‘ambassadors’ regarding the instrument.
