Urban studies; Shrinkage in Europe

Shrinkage in Europe; causes, effects and policy strategies Urban Studies / Cost CIRES Conference

Wednesday, 16 February, 13:00 - Thursday, 17 February 2011, 18:00 hrs.

About the conference
In both the academic world and the political debates, shrinkage has become an important topic as shrinkage has become a pressing problem in many parts of Europe. The severity of shrinkage and the time span in which shrinkage is occurring differs between the different parts of Europe. Even though the amount of literature on shrinkage is increasing, it remains difficult to pinpoint the exact causes and consequences of shrinkage. Many scholars stress the complexity and multi-dimensionality of shrinkage.

Aim of the conference
The aim is to present and discuss local experiences and research on these matters. We look forward to hear the experiences from colleagues from different parts of Europe, and beyond.
