Startconference Wednesday October 8 2008
It’s your future
Demographic change has consequences for the quality of life in your region. The partners in the Interreg IVB NSR
project DC NOISE work together to fi nd ways to deal with the implications of demographic change and population
decline in a positive way. Action is needed: get ready for the future!
Demographic Change: New Opportunities In Shrinking Europe
Within DC NOISE 9 partner regions work together. These are the Region of Twente (Lead Benefi ciary), the province of Zeeland and Groningen in the Netherlands, de provinces of West and East Flanders in Belgium, Knutepunkt Sørlandet in Norway, the city of Hamburg and Bremen Region in Germany and de University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland.
Together we want to:
- Raise awareness amongst both private and public actors and involve these actors in the process;
- To develop a better understanding of and fi nd solutions for the consequences of demographic change, especially in three identifi ed economy-related themes: labour market, services and innovative housing;
- To implement strategies, transnational and demonstration pilots and concrete actions to deal with these consequences of demographic change;
- To communicate the outcomes and best practices of the DC NOISE project in such a way that also other regions in the North Sea Region will be aware of the urgency and the consequences of demographic change in their policies and actions.
We are very pleased about the participation of the Dutch Ministry of Internal Affairs, and especially about the willingness of State Secretary Ank Bijleveld-Schouten to be the ambassador of the DC NOISE project.
