Spatial variation of demographic change in Hamburg

 

One of the subpartners of DC NOISE (the University of Hamburg) examines the process of aging in specific urban areas. Hamburg is heavily affected by demographic and social segregation. The increase of segregation is intensified by the processes of demographic change and by the re-urbanization of inner-urban neighborhoods. The consequence of the segregation is that especially peripheral districts are characterized by aging and poverty. The consequence is that there will be new challenges for spatial planning and urban policy. Read more.
