Common employment – labour market

Nurses in Kristiansand now get an opportunity to work in both hospital and municipality at the same time, dividing working hours on two organisations. In Norway health care is divided in two main parts - the hospitals are organised under central government control, and community care and home nursing care is organised under local government control in a municipality.

Sørlandet Hospital Health Enterprise and Kristiansand municipality have made a special arrangement where nurses divide their place of employment and working hours in both organisations. Transfer of knowledge between the two organisations and better interaction is the main cause of the project. The benefits for nurses who participates is upgrade of skills and career development. Four nurses will be chosen to participate in this new project during spring.

Norwegian Directorate of Health finds the project interesting, and contributes with economical support.
