Regional Talk on innovative housing

In the Bremen region the Kommunalverbund Niedersachsen/Bremen has started the production of a “regional housing atlas”. In this Bremen wants to present existing and planned examples of how to adapt the housing market to changing demands. Bremen wants to show innovative approaches in our region to a wider public and encourage them to transfer these ideas and projects and maybe start their own projects.

As a kick-off Bremen conducted a “regional talk” in the beginning of December in cooperation with Weser Kurier - the biggest regional newspaper. Under the headline “How do we want to live tomorrow?” Bremen had invited experts in the topic of housing to present the current trends in population development and their impact on the field of housing. Besides they showed innovative approaches how to deal with the future demand for housing space. The meeting was designed as a panel discussion in order to have an intensive discussion with the audience. It was chaired by a journalist from Weser Kurier and he managed very well. The intention was to get people interested in the topic of housing, to inform them about the regional housing atlas so that they would tell us about their projects and initiatives later on.

The meeting was the first of a series of public events dealing with the demographic change. Bremen wants to raise awareness for this topic and to get people involved in our pilots.
