DC NOISE at conference 'Joining forces!'

DC NOISE was invited to attend the conference “Joining forces! Results and perspectives of INTERREG B, a contribution of the German Regions in the North Sea Region Programme”. The aim of the “Joining forces!” event was to take the North Sea Region as an example to illustrate the benefits of transnational cooperation, focusing on what will be needed and possible when initiating new transnational cooperation programmes beyond 2013. The event was organised by the North German Federal states of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein and the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development. An exhibition was opened as part of the event to showcase examples of transnational cooperation projects involving North German actors in the North Sea Region. Dc NOISE was presented here as one of the good examples dealing with the demographic future.

Based on an interesting survey by Difu (see the English summary) discussions took place. The moderator, Mr. Biss from the North German Broadcasting Corporation, asked Roos Galjaard, project manager of DC NOISE, about the results of the project on demographic change and how transnational cooperation took place. During the round table with amongst others Christian Byrith, Head of Secretariat, North Sea Region Programme, Stefan Herms, Director-General, International Relations, Senate Chancellery Hamburg and Colin Wolfe, Head of Unit REGIO/E1, DG Regional Policy, European Commission the future of territorial cooperation was discussed.
